this one's for lindsay...

alright. first question that needs to be answered is this - the & n b s p thing is a computer code deal that doesn't read write about empty spaces. my very good friend (kinda geeky, but a good friend) says it's an issue with the software i'm using to blog these days. it should get fixed soon, so until then, shorter spaces after sentences.

issue number two. the news. get ready for it:

after some months of deliberation and prayer, discussion and wondering, i've decided it's time to move on from my role at the church. i want to be very clear about this: this is a move coming out of gifts and passion, not out of failure in ministry or inability to perform or anything like that. this is about the kingdom of God and where i see Jesus working, and what i can do to join him in his work.

i was hired by the gp church of christ almost 2 years ago now, and i was brought into a situation that was (to be honest) not friendly. i was given the job of rebuilding relationships, repairing bridges, providing constant and consistent leadership, and bringing the youth ministry back to a place of growth while beginning to build a young adult ministry. my time here has been a great blessing, and that task has been completed - a little sooner than i thought it would - but it's done. and it's time for me to move on.

we are not leaving gp, we are going to stay here and continue to contribute to what God is doing in our community. it really is an amazing place, and the things God is taking us into as a church will literally change thousands of lives, both locally and globally. i won't be an employee of the church anymore, but jenn and i are committed members of this congregation, and we can't wait for what lies ahead.

i am taking a position with a group called younglife. this is a christian mission that devotes its time to mentoring and discipling high school kids towards relationships with Jesus. that's what this is about, moving God's kingdom forward by seeing kids come to know Jesus. i'll be working alongside of my good friend Pete, and together we'll be building relationships with the high schools here, with sports teams, community groups, and this will allow us to 'go into' the world of high school kids and offer our influence and the unconditional love of Jesus.

basically, i'm becoming a missionary in the backyard that is gp. because i won't be working for the local church anymore, i'm going to be raising my own financial support. don't worry, jenn's fine with this, in fact, she's very excited about the possibilities that are on the horizon. i think jenn is going to be an amazing part of changing the lives of young girls involved in the ministry of younglife.

so, that is the big news. i hope to make the transition at around the beginning of june. alot of time and energy is going into making these things possible, and now the work really begins. i encourage you to consider supporting younglife's work in gp in two ways: first in prayer - without prayer, this stuff doesn't happen. and second financially - i'm really bad at asking people for money. i'd love to partner up with all of you in changing the lives of high school kids in any way you can contribute. jenn and i are considering prayerfully who we can send letters to asking for contributions. if you'd like to be on that list, please leave a comment. if you've got more questions, feel free to email me (the link is under my profile at the right).

i will keep you updated in the days ahead as we move forward. blessings.

Three things:
1. It's not geeky, it's socially challenged.
2. FINALLY! ;)
3. You got that web address wrong, it should be http://grandeprairie.younglife.ca

That is all. Oh, and welcome aboard!
