i preached, they listened...

i promised an update after preaching on sunday. things went fairly well. i was able to communicate the point that i wanted to make in about 14 minutes, which fit fairly well into the time frame that i was given for the message. i received some good feedback, and according to alan (the senior minister) it was our highest attended sunday so far in 2007, over 430 people hearing the message. i still have yet to get some feedback from him on the message though, so i'll be looking forward to hearing from him on that. the man is such a gifted speaker, and since he's had the extra time to work on this week's message, it'll probably knock a few people's socks off.

if you're curious, listen to the message 'spiritual dipsomaniacs' here. while you're there, you should check out the message 'becoming lion chasers'. it's a great vision cast for our church and calls our congregation to be courageous in the face of uncertainty.

there's a lot of work coming in the next few months, and there's a lot of ground to be covered as we pursue the things we think God is leading us into. times are exciting, but challenging at the same time.

on the home front: grayson's getting bigger and getting more teeth. it's been neat seeing more of his personality starting to come through. he and i will sit and have 'conversations' now as he tells me about his day and what he did. i'm not sure there's anything better than walking in the door at the end of a long day and seeing his face light up when he sees me - it's very cool.
