today we hosted a retreat for the young adults of our church. the elders (men that oversee the spiritual direction and life of our church) wanted to get a chance to get to know some of the young adults and to get a sense of who they are and what they are all about. it was a great opportunity for both groups to come together and break down some of the walls that get thrown up between groups.
we heard testimonies from young adults and from elders, and spent time talking about the church and why it's important that both sides are involved with each other. we ate food (something any group does well and benefits greatly from), and then we played some football together. it was a great day. and now tomorrow is worship in the morning, and then youth group (a video scavenger hunt!) in the evening. and only 13 days left to DtP!!
"Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering and the lonely right there where you are -- in your own homes and in your own families, in your workplaces and in your schools. ... You can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see. Everywhere, wherever you go, you find people who are unwanted, unloved, uncared for, just rejected by society -- completely forgotten, completely left alone." - Mother Teresa
